Hebrews 3:3<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The writer of Hebrews has demonstrated in previous verses the superiority of Christ over angels, and over any other spiritual influence upon the church.  Christ is indeed superior.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here in this verse the writer has reminded the reader that Jesus is also superior over Moses.  The Jews had a high favor of the faithfulness of Moses, which by history and testimony persisted in their hearts centuries later.   Moses was the law giver, and God\u2019s appointed emancipator of Israel (in the historical sense). He was a worker of God\u2019s miracles, and was uniquely placed as one who spoke to God one on one, as He was considered God\u2019s friend:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend. Then Moses would return to the camp, but his young aide Joshua son of Nun did not leave the tent. (Exodus 33:11)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before Moses\u2019 life came to a close, he announced the coming of One to whom Israel must listen:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your fellow Israelites. You must listen to him. (Deuteronomy 18:15)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moses pointed to the coming Messiah, Jesus, who has fulfilled the law, and has emancipated us from sin and death.  So, although throughout history many have been tempted to elevate Moses to an almost supernatural grandeur, there is only one over the household of God.  Only God is the builder, and Christ Jesus is the faithful Son over the house, meaning over the lives of His followers and over His church (Hebrews 3:6).  In compliment, Colossians 1:18 describes Jesus as the head of the church, and the first born among the dead to have first place in everything<\/em>.  Jesus is superior to all things, to all people, and superior over all creation.  Jesus is greater.  And, obviously Moses (along with all other patriarchs of faith) would agree.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, today, although there lies within each human heart the tendency to elevate others to places of overwhelming prominence in our lives, there is only One who is great.  All others bow before Him.  Only Jesus is superior and supreme, for only He has the name that is above every name.  And, one day, \u201cevery knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God our Father.\u201d  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is no individual, nor movement, nor ideology, nor political preference, nor cause, that can even compare to the glory due His name.  So, may we not trust in our man-made attempts nor lofty ideas.   May our trust rest in Christ alone.  Yes, there are those certain prospects of hope in this life to which we run, and those dreams offered us to which we cling.  But nothing and no one deserves our trust like Jesus.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today is a great day to be reminded that there is only One to whom we look and in whom we place our lives. Stay fixed on Jesus.  Stay at His feet.  And, invite someone there with you.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
