My youngest daughter and I recently swam out to a sand bar that was just off one of our favorite beaches here in our city. She is a beginning swimmer but does well. And as we made our way out, I pulled her on a small surfboard while she glided along with not a care in the world. She was relaxed. But then she decided she would swim like her dad, so she rolled off the board and into the deep water exercising all that she had learned about swimming. Theoretically, she was just as safe swimming as she was on the board because she was exercising what she had learned. But her focus went through a transformation. Instead of looking around and taking in the scenery she was focused on me. She was swimming straight toward me. She was more confident in me getting to the sand bar than herself, so she stayed focused ahead on the safest point she knew – her father. She looked past the deep waters and the waves and made it safely. This is the meaning of “look unto Jesus.” This represents the true meaning of spiritual sight.

Where are you looking at the moment? Isn’t it time we resolve that the only place to look is to Jesus?
