October 2, changes

Life constantly changes. God’s Word remains constant.

At times we simply need to let go.  “Forget the former things;  do not dwell on the past.” (Isaiah 43:18)  Often times we need to hold tight. “Let us hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering. (Hebrews 10:23)

At times in life we really need to speak up.  “Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into Him who is the head, into Christ.” (Ephesians 4:15)  Yet, there are times we should remain completely silent.  Even fools are thought wise if they keep silent, and discerning if they hold their tongues. (Proverbs 17:28)

In life, we at times must admit we need help from those close to us.  The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” (I Corinthians 12:21)

Other times in life, we must ourselves own up to that which we alone are accountable.  “For each one should carry his own load.” (Galatians 6:5).

There are those moments we must push back and rest.  “In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.” (Psalm 4:8)  And, there are those choice times we must push forward despite fatigue and anguish.  “So let’s not get tired of doing what is good, for at just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.” (Galatians 6:9).

There are those moments wherein we must take the time to carefully plan and consider. “Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it? (Luke 14:28). At other times we must step out on faith even when there seems to be no clear plans. “Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9).

There are occasions when we must dance and rejoice.  “You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have loosed my sackcloth and girded me with gladness.” (Psalm 30:11) There are times we must mourn. Be sorrowful and weep! Let your joking aroundbe turned into mourning.” (James 4:9)

There are those precious real-life moments wherein we must hold to the tender memories of things gone by.  “The memories of a righteous person is a blessing.” (Proverbs 10:7). And, there are those present moments wherein God is creating fresh and new experiences for today.  Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. (Isaiah 43:18-19)

Life is constantly changing.  And at times our experiences are not what they were the second before.  The vicissitudes of life constantly keep us ever transitioning from one feeling or experience to another.  But, aren’t you glad that God’s Word remains constant?  He has instructions for us in every experience of life.  Stay close to His Word.  Stay close to His heart.  Press toward Christ our Lord every day.  For, the days change.  Our moment by moment journey has unexpected turns.  But God doesn’t change.  Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever.  And God’s Word endures.  At times, we do not know what to expect.  But there is always God’s truth and God’s Spirit to guide us.

Blessings.
